Smiley or Emoticons

A facial gesture can be represented with what is called a “smiley” or “emoticon” a textual drawing of a facial expression. The most common ones are:

:) or :-) happy, friendly
;) or ;-) droll, ironic
>:) or >:-) devilish, teasing
:o or :-o shocked, bewildered
:( or :-( sad, displeased
